Focus: Speech Sound Development
Ages: 5-8 years old
This evidenced-based class increases your child's awareness of their speech sounds, and corrects your child's sound production to improve clarity. The fun activities and games don't require large attention spans, which allows even young children to attend to and practice target sounds while staying motivated. Students learn quickly to monitor their speech and self- correct their sound errors. This program is appropriate for children with speech sound production errors who are at least 5yrs old and able to attend for at least 5 minutes independently.
GET READY, DO, DONE!
Focus: Executive Function Skills
Ages: 8-12 years old
Focus: Executive Function Skills
Ages: 8-12 years old
This class improves executive functioning: planning, sequencing, organizing, initiating large tasks, time management, and more. The skills your child will develop in this class are necessary to basic activities of daily living. Unfortunately, our modern world has created new expectations which require things to be done as quickly as possible, and with that comes a certain lack of patience on parents/teachers part. So instead of allowing the child to develop these skills, adults default to becoming the executive: we tell the child each discrete step required to complete the task. So instead of saying get ready for bed, we wind up telling the child shower, put on your pjs, brush your teeth, and go to bed. This class uses crafts, worksheets/homework tasks, and other large projects to help children learn to break down large tasks, prioritize, and implement their plans, while also learning how to self-monitor to ensure they stay on task.
