The local karate dojo, Far East Martial Arts, teaches over 3 different karate styles in Glendale, Arizona.
Far East Martial Arts teaches classes Monday-Thursday and every Saturday, and they offer classes for both children and adults. Far East Martial Arts is located in Glendale and is owned & operated by Sifu Michael Cardinale.
1. You learn how to defend yourself
In every class, students practice various techniques to protect themselves from danger. For women especially, this is very useful to learn when they are out alone. As each student gains confidence in their ability to throw punches, they gain life-saving techniques that can protect them in the face of danger.
2. You get a full-body workout
Practicing martial arts gives students a complete, total body exercise. Karate is not only a ton of cardio but incorporates strength training as well. Strength, balance, flexibility, and stamina are all increased over time. Also, Martial Arts moves involve crossing the midline of the body, which has been proven to increase flexibility and brain health.
3. It’s a stress-reliever
Students who participate in martial arts have said that it relieves their stress. Since martial artists are trained to focus on the present task, distractions melt away into the background, also helping to significantly lessen the stress accumulated throughout the day. Martial arts students who let out the vocal kihap and punches during classes also experience a reduction in frustration, tension, and anxiety.
4. You lose a ton of weight
Every martial arts training session involves intense physical movements that burn tons of calories. The average person burns 475-575 calories per hour at a slower pace in martial arts. Moderate pace martial arts will burn about 750-900 calories per hour, according to captaincalculator.com. In addition, martial arts students discover they tend to naturally crave less food. When eating becomes more regulated over time through martial arts training, you see a reduction in body weight.
