Spend Hours At This Enormous Bookstore In Phoenix

 February 2, 2021

At Bookmans, a bookstore in Phoenix, you can trade-in your books for store credit or cash.

There are six different locations including one in Phoenix, Mesa, Flagstaff, and three in Tucson. The used bookstore company was founded in 1976 in Tucson and has been running for 40 years.

“People enjoy coming to Bookmans for our vibe and because we are a cool place to be. We are really fun and try to be a hub for the community,” according to Allison, the Marketing Coordinator at Bookmans.

The bookstores do a lot of different outreach with nonprofit partners and everything in the store is used, which makes it extremely sustainable. Customers can come into the bookstore with different items and trade them in for store credit or cash. Things that they buy from customers include books, magazines, comics, music, movies, video games, musical instruments, electronics, housewares, and more.

“Bookmans is all about sustainability, reusing, and recycling. We like to say we were green before green was in,” said Allison.

Right now they are hosting events through streaming and their most popular one is their ukelele jam session. The biggest event coming up in February is their “Blind Date With A Book” event. When you come in there will be a huge display of books where all of them are covered and labeled with a cute pickup line. You would then blindly pick up one, purchase it and take it home to read, just like a blind date.

To keep safe during the pandemic they are keeping a limited amount of people in the store at all times and offering curbside pickup as well.
