5 Tips to Help Your Child With Personal Hygiene

Here are 5 tips to help your child with personal hygiene:

1. Talk to Them

When you’re encouraging your kids to practice good hygiene, it’s important that you explain to them why good hygiene is a necessity and not an arbitrary set of rules that you’re forcing on them.

2. Make Sure Your Information Is Up to Date

Some of the advice you got in your childhood might be outdated today. So before talking to your kids about hygiene, make sure the information you have is up to date.

3. Be a Role Model

Actions speak louder than words.

If you don’t lead by example, then you won’t encourage your kids to practice good hygiene no matter how many times you talk about its importance.

4. Pair Up

According to experts, kids typically look to a same-sex parent as a role model for hygiene. So it’s smart to have mothers talk to daughters and fathers to sons about hygiene.

That being said, this is not a rigid rule and certainly not the only way.

5. Start Early

When it comes to teaching your children about hygiene, the rule of thumb is the earlier you start, the better it is. So if you haven’t already, start now!

However, if you have applied all these tips and tactics and still can’t get through to your child about a particular hygiene issue, then you should seek professional help.

At Therapy Tree, our team of experts will be delighted to help your child achieve their daily living goals.
